I am pleased to announce that Rev. Eddie Hilliard has been appointed to First UMC, Sealy. Monday evening, May 21, District Superintendent Tony Vinson introduced Reverend Eddie Hilliard and his wife, Wanda, to the Board as the next Pastor to serve Sealy UMC. Rev. Hilliard has most recently served as Executive Associate Pastor at First UMC, Missouri City. In that capacity he had responsibilities in preaching, worship, administration, pastoral care and missions. Previously he served as Pastor at Addicks United Methodist Church, as well as Executive Director of Disaster recovery ministries following Hurricane Ike.
Reverend Hilliard is a 2014 graduate of Perkins School of Theology at SMU Dallas. He has served the Texas Annual Conference in numerous capacities, most recently on the Committee for Missional Excellence, the small church initiative and Golden Care. Prior to his entering the ministry, Reverend Hilliard had a distinguished 31-year career in the business world serving as Director of Merchandising and Marketing for SYSCO cooperation.
Reverend Hilliard expressed to our First Board his excitement about the many ministries Sealy United Methodist Church is involved in throughout the community. He looks forward to beginning to meet everyone and begin his ministry officially on July 1.
I invite you all to begin lifting up Eddie and his family in prayer as they engage in this time of transition, and I know you will all be as warm and welcoming to the Hilliard family as you were with my family.
Grace and peace,
Pastor Curtis
